Breakfast sample for Day 3 in Tokyo! We began the morning with a two hour drive out of Tokyo to Hakone, where we explored where silver/hot springs winter is mined and where the famous black egg is! It was questionable if we would make it up the Hakone Ropeway, given rainy conditions the day before. We were fortunate enough to make it up the Ropeway, however, clouds blocked our view of Mount Fuji. We enjoyed the ride up, some epic views regardless, and some cooler weather! After the cable car, we took a ferry ride which brought us back to our bay weather that we were missing! We ended the night back at our favorite dinner spot! This time, a different menu!
Our morning began with the heaviest rain I think any of us have walked in! Thanks to our bus driver who had umbrellas for us to explore Asakusa! We saw a beautiful temple and local shops. Before the science museum, we took another ferry ride, this time on a fancy almost submarine like boat! The Science museum was a hit, with its speciality being looking at a futuristic world. We couldn’t take a trip to Japan without a Karaoke evening! What a perfect way to end our trip Today, we will do some final shopping at Akihabara, then head to the airport!
The first day of our Osaka tour began with breakfast at the hotel and a brief drive through the city to our first destination, Cupnoodles Museum! We began our day touring the Cupnoodles Museum. We enjoyed learning the history about a frequently eaten meal, specifically that the founder created Cupnoodles designed to go to space! We got to decorate our own Cupnoodles, then fill them with toppings and a soup base of our choice! The museum’s mascot is a chicken, and many purchased their first souvenirs here! Chaperones! Next we ventured to Osaka Castle for a tour with our local guide, June. She took us to the shrine on the castle grounds, and to tour the recently renovated castle! Students had a chance to say a wish/prayer at the shrine, and learn a little history of the castle. After Osaka Castle, we drove to Dontonbori Canal Street for a late lunch and to play in an arcade. We had some lucky winners at the claw machines, but majority of the students think they are a sca...
